Although Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, it's people are everything but. Perhaps it's their strong Buddhist and Hindu culture or maybe it's just the compassion that grows out of extreme poverty, but Nepalese people are some of the richest hearted and most welcoming in the the world. And this is one of the reasons that we decided to base Backpack Buddha in Nepal.
The hardest part about setting up a business in Nepal is not being able to help everyone. But we're doing what we can for a few wonderful families in Kathmandu.
Param, his wife, and 7 year old daughter are all beautiful both inside and out. They are kind, honest, and hardworking. Param used to work as a guide at Swayambhunath Temple where he earned under 80$/month. He wants nothing more than to give his daughter the best education possible, and we're committed to helping him make that possible. If you would like to know more about Param, and how you can help him, please email us at Sherpas@BackpackBuddha.com.
Ultimately, every purchase made on Backpack Buddha directly supports Param and our team of local artisans and craftsmen who assemble our Mala strands by hand. It also supports our team of "Sherpas" who ensure the highest quality products, and make sure everything is shipped on time.
We've teamed up with a couple of awesome causes operating in Nepal and around the world, donating between 10-15% on select products.
also known as the Monkey Temple, is considered to be the second most holy temple in both Buddhism and Hinduism in the world. Unfortunately, following the devastating earthquake of 2015, the temple and surrounding monasteries suffered considerable damage. That's why we've met with local leaders offering to donate 10% on select products to help them rebuild, and maintain their way of monastic life.
